Here's a little bench I came across a few weeks ago......meant to start a thread then to see how well all the new cards stack up.

Unlike 3D MARK '06 you needn't install this......nor give up half your day to make 5 or 6 runs

ASUS EN8800GTS 640MB to the rescue.......6k will fall to this card.....lots of tweaks left, some headroom too

I aint sure how SOLDNER-MOFO64 got that high as My CPU and GPU are running much faster, but he has OC's the FSB/HT

Well, there are other optimisations in later builds for other aspects of the cards....which newer apps games come to require.

Are you playing LP on DX10? If so then that's a major factor in the requirment of newer drivers also.

WHQL mate.....for 8800GTS/GTX. It includes a modded INF file for series 5/6/7 users. It's an official release. What more can I say...the rest is down to your own tweaks. I wouldn't even consider attempting to cheat....I despise cheats.

Also.....I remember applying LOD tweaks to this bench a while back to see if it effects it, but unlike 3D MARK it makes virtually no difference.

I suppose that's entirely possibly. I couldn't really comment though as I've heard nothing to substantiate it.

It's also a possibility that later revisions haven't had certain aspects optimised aswell as this earlier build.

For XP I still use 97.92 WHQL as these give by far the highest FPS of all the 8series drivers. You'll most likely clock your card higher with 97.92 aswell.

My 5k run was done with clocks at 663/1024mhz and I'm using an ASUS EN8800GTS 640MB

Configurations vary, visual settings vary, aswell as a host of other factors. I shouldn't need to tell you that. How do you know everyone has the exact same driver settings?

This is OPENGL mate, not DX.....it may be entirely possible that an X1950XT can render OPENGL better than an X2900.

Now now Tom, calm down. If you were 2nd would you be saying that? I think not. Perhaps you need to tweak some settings or OC a bit more? Like I've said, this is OPEN GL, so you can't expect the scores to land exactly the same as a DX benchmark, and when they don't, call foul.

As for the varying difference in scores....well....imagine an SLi'd 8800GTX rig with 16x AA/16xQ AF/VSYNC on/HIGH QUALITY/TRIPPLE BUFFERING all enabled....running STOCK..lol

Now compare that to my ballsed out 8800GTS without ANY enabled....and clocked significantly higher.....now couple that with a driver that spews out FPS for fun.....and what do you get......an 8800GTS on TOP and a bunch of disgruntled others....lol

I really shouldn't have to be saying this kinda stuff. I mean do you guys run 3D MARK at max quality settings or what? lol

Like I've said...I could show you an SLi rig with even lower scores.....depends how I configure it. Just as some guys with GTX's score 8-9k in 06 whereas some GTS owners can pull 11K...there's nothing fishy.....just dif configs.

Tweak your rig the same as you would when attempting to break your own 3D MARK 06 record , and re-run. I mean half the guys here are posting "C2D & card at stock" scores..lol

Don't submit STOCK scores this is a TOP-LIST.....you don't submit STOCK scores to the 3D MARK 06 thread.....lol
