P182, optimal air flow

Hi guys,

Ive got a question about airflow in my P182. Atm ive got a load of scythe S-Flex 1600rpm fans in my case. Two in the main chamber around the 3.1/2 cage blowing air over the GPUs and then one at the top and another at the back extracting air. On top of this ive got two push-pulling backwards on my TRUE. And one final one in the lower chamber blowing air forwards over the HDDs. Theyre on a fan controller and mainly running full blast (its surprisingly quiet dispite this :)).

Now that you know what my setup is I just took the side off my case and my CPU temp dropped 12oC, which is a huge drop, do you think ive not got enough air coming into the case? and would changing the top fan around to an intake help drop the temp?

Thanks in advance.

depends u could have positive pressure as there are more intakes that exhausts but if u feel that u must lower thecpu temps poss a new case my antec 900 does a really good job my cpu idles at 30s with speed step:D and never goes past 70:D

Well im idling at 45 atm with speed step off, and I dont ever get to 70oC either, but I figure a 12oC drop even on that is something worth hunting for :). Anyone else got any suggestions?

Thanks guys.

Wow - good temps! I'm struggling to get a good balance of noise and cooling in my P182 and I'd welcome any recommendations on the best fans to use in the case and also in my Tuniq Tower. I currently have a combination of fans: Sythe Kama PWM 1200rpm, Sythe Slipstream 1200rpm and the original Tuniq fan. I've tried a Sharkoon but it's too loud.

Are the filters clean ?
I have no experience of a P182 but am about to get a P180 so have been reading up on them, and your temps do sound a little higher than I would imagine - I assume all fans are installed the right way round ?
That amount of a drop does indicate an airflow problem to me - have you tried holding a piece of tissue close to the exhaust fans to check they are blowing out much air ?

I have p180

I ve got 2 front intake

Tuniq tower with back exhausting and top one exhausting aswell.

My e7400 overclocked @ 3.6 atm and temps are 54C

What would say maxium temps on overclock under prime 95 blend?

My current case, an old Antec SLK3700, has one 120 at the front turning at 1200, one at the rear at 800, an 80mm fan in the bottom on 7 volts blowing up and a blowhole right above the PSU acting as a cold air intake for the PSU and I idle at 38 - ambient is 24.
CPU cooler is a Sunbeam with the fan on low. All openings have filters.
I am hoping that my P180 will better that by a few degrees...

The p182 isn't really that great for airflow as it is more designed to reduce noise. Keeping the door open helps lower temps by a couple of degrees. Also if you don't mind modding cut the metal grills behind the dust filters at the front helps air intake.

That is on my list of jobs..!

you don't need to do all that.

I have overclocked my e7400 now to 3.7 and temps are 54/56 after 1 hour and a bit of PRIME 95. Modding the case few extra few C is pointless mays well sell it and put that money toward an Antec 900-2 or something!
