Hey all,

95% convinced myself to replace my (gorgeous, yet unsuprisingly HOT :o ) wavemaster with the hopefully ice-cool p182. Currently getting 45c idle/65c load on my stock opteron 170 which doesnt give me any headroom for oc

1- Wondering if people recommend swapping the stock tri-cool 120mm fans for some yate loons? would I notice a considerable difference in temps?

Apparently the loons are 28db while the tri-cools are 25db at i think 12v, so (if this is true) a decent reduction in temps is needed to justify the noise/cost.

2- Checking that its fine to connect the loons to the Zalman ZM-MFC1? Dont want to put to many amps through the fans.

At first I'll be air-cooling but those rubber holes for water at the back of the p182 do look tempting for a 120.2 someday... Which leads to the last Question:

3-is the p182 alright for water? Been reading people dont like it for that aspect...

Cheers

1. I wouldn't bother personally. I'm running both the tri-cools and Loons in my case, and the tri-cools are very quiet at their lowest settings. You can also switch them on the fly to stupidly high CFM, but then they are noisy, as are the Loons at full chat.

2. I'm running 4 x Loons on my Scythe Kama Meter, and I'm sure the Zalman MFC1 will be fine too. The Zalman can run a lower voltage than my Scythe, and the Loons are particularly good at very low voltages like 5v etc.

3. I like my watercooling to be internal, as I don't like rads and pipes hanging off the back, but for external WC'ing it is as good as any other case I guess, and the rubber grommets on the tube holes are useful.

I've got 120.1 and 120.2 all mounted internally on my 182, but it has required a certain amount of modding to do so. Although it's not the smallest case around, it isn't all that big either by the time you've fitted blocks and found space for a pump and a res etc. Admittedly, it would be a lot easier if I hadn't gone for the internal mounting of the rads. The 120.2 and fans is mounted in the roof space, and it required very careful positioning to avoid fouling any thing on the motherboard.

cheers tooks!

Just bought the 182, some loons to max out the fans,a Zalman ZM-MFC1 and a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme! Gonna be Ice cold now. Coming tommorow, can't wait :D

Thanks again!
