P35 DQ6 PCI-E Problem

Mate of mine has a P35 DQ6 and a 3870XT, for some reason its shows the card as running at PCI-E x1 instead of x16, have tried a few different drivers and latest bios but everything still reports it as x1, any ideas?

I'm pretty sure there is a BIOS option to force the graphics slot to run a 1x - look for PEG under Advanced Chipset Features.

Had a look through the bios for PCI speed but couldn't spot anything, apart from bus frequency.

No, you're right - it's there on some P35 Bios' but not the P35-DQ6.
