P35 DS3P will not clock.

usually it will reset the once when it takes...the odd time it will reset twice then beep...but only ever beep once....i know when it won't take because it will reset about 5 - 6 times then hang.....press reset...it'll have reset itself to stock, go back into the bios and change it again..it's very common with these boards and to be honest i think it does it on all revisions with these boards

Yeah mine resets twice always and beeps twice on the second reset (manual says this is a cmos error) and as Ive already reset the cmos countless times I can only think this board is faulty which is why it will only boot at 266 which would be failsafe it reverts to if a fault occurs.

I had this exact same problem with an Asus P5K deluxe, initially the board worked fine and I had my Q6600 clocked and stable at 3600.

Rebooted one day after a prolonged orthos stress test and all clocks had reset to stock and following that whatever I tried the board would only boot at stock FSB,I spent 2 days swapping hardware and trying all available bioses and memory configurations but no joy, eventually rma'd the board, still awaiting replacement.

The same cpu is in a BX2 while await return of the P5KD and is running nicely at 3ghz.

RMA the board mate,it's broke I'm afraid, don't waste any more time with it.

I you are in a real rush, buy another and auction the replacement when it arrives.

you cant rma it really, im pretty sure if it runs at stock you have no right to rma the board, try putting it to 275 or something/decreasing the multipler and see what happens.

It doesnt run at anything other than 266 m8 you can change the fsb to 50 and it will still cold boot and reset to 266.

Well to update anyone whos interested I sent it back they tested it and guess what.........

FAULTY

Not surprised tho because Ive seen others since with similar problems so there may be a bad batch out there.

I didnt request a straight swap I was to dissillusioned with it Ive had a P5KC instead and 1/2 an hour later Im clocking like Big Ben :D :D :D

Got a Gigabyte GA P35 DS3P last friday, set it up on saturday with 4GB Ballistix PC2-5300C3, an E6600 and tuniq Tower 120mm...and it O/Cs very well indeed, so very pleased with new board.....sorry to hear Cotti that you got a faulty one, a real bummer...but you appear to be sorted now! :)
