Hi,

After searching for info, I appear to be more confused and was hoping for a little help.

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card on a GA-P35-S3G, but not sure due to the chipset/PCI-e slot as all the graphic cards I see are now PCI-e x2

I have been led to believe that the card would fit the slot OK, but(if that being correct) would the motherboard be able to handle the full cards capabilities or would the motherboard cause slow downs/bottle neck.

Sorry if this is a newb question, but my poor old brain is confused.

Any info to help would be much appreciated.

AFAIK all current PCI-e 2.0 capable graphic cards will work in the PCI-e 1.1 slots on a P35 board. Aslong as its working at x16 speed there will be no bottleneck with any card out atm except possibly the 5970 (and that would be a very minor performance slowdown).

Many thanks for the speedy reply.

Is there any way that I can confirm the slots speed?

Edit: Its OK, I found a utility and the PCI-e is x16. So now to decide on a graphics card,... my poor old brain lol.
