Hi. What's the fastest socket 775 tech available?
I don't know - is it X48, P45 or nvidia chipset? I'm looking to get a new motherboard, upgrade from an Asus P5K (P35). Can't quite afford the complete i7 upgrade yet, just need something that will run at 1600 FSB and above ([email protected]+GHz). Cheers.

So P45 is considered faster/stable/better than X48. That answers my question.
That board looks good --> must fight the urge to buy Asus board first.

Yeah - X48 boards just consist of higher speed-binned X38 chips. It's by no means a bad chipset, but P45 is more modern and generally considered the best bet for overclocking.

Asus have some great P45 offerings - you can't really go wrong with any of them tbh.

The Biostar would be a good bet. It holds several world records. Quite a few people have had problems with the Asus P45 boards.

Nothing wrong with X38/48 boards either. Running at 9x500 here, with ease. :D
