Hi Guys

I have a E6420 in the above board with 2gb Ballistix 5300 and I think I have a FSB wall stopping me clocking higher than 3.4ghz?

Even if I use a multiplier of 6 instead of 8 I can't got passed 426 which is only 2.5ghz  it doesn't even show the bios screen just starts/restarts and sets some of the chip settings to auto  My memory is set to 2.00 = 1:1 834mzh and I know the Ballistix can go higher so I can't see it being that, all other bits are disabled in the bios!

No matter what vcore I put through it, running a Thermalright 120 Extreme cooler with a large silent fan.

Is the FSB wall caused by the motherboard? If so is there any way to correct it?

Any advice would be helpful :(

It's possibly the CPU. Some of the E6400's had a 417mhz wall. Mine did.

Have you disabled all the unneeded options in the BIOS as listed in the DS3 guides?

Ah I thought it may be the case!

It does state on the box 1066mhz FSB though? Or am I missing summit here ?

Damn it :(

Yeah, your missing something, 1066FSB is achieved at 266mhz. Intel chips have a quad pumped frontside bus.

So your 426Mhz FSB is 1704FSB in 'intel marketting speak'
