Im looking at replacing my Intel stock CPU cooler on this mobo. However, the mobo heatsink seems awfully close to the CPU socket. Im not sure if it actually is closer than on other mobos-this is the only mobo I have ever worked with. However, is the spacing of it going to be a problem at all when choosing a heatsink, or are all motherboards like that?

Tuniq Tower 120 fits, but only in one direction. See this thread for more info.
Just fitted the Artic Cooling Freezer on this board. Quiet and dropped my load temperatures a lot from the stock cooler.

Do you think the OCZ vindicator will fit alright?
If the Tuniq Tower and the Thermalright Ultra 120 fit then any of the Scythes should. It's always worth doing a bit of research for yourself and visiting the cooler manufacturers' web sites as they usually have motherboard compatibility charts.

Installed a OCZ vindicator today on a friends machine, fits fine. It's a 2140 at stock idling at 25c. Will be OCing soon though.

I've just fitted an old XP-90 cooler to mine (with the 775 adapter) and it fits wonferfully.
Didn't think it would but there's loads of room. I bet there's not many coolers that this board is incompatible with.
