I was wondering if any p35c-ds3r owners out there are running their system with 8gb ram? I was thinking of getting 2 sets of the 2 x 2gb G.Skill 8000.

I am currently running 2 x 1gb ocz 6400 right now. However, I have read so many threads regarding what a nightmare the p35c-ds3r is..having booting problems with just 4 x 1gb ram.

The Northbridge needs a substantial amount of extra voltage to run 4x1gig PC2-6400 sticks stable with a 400MHz FSB (not tried stock)... so 8gig would be really pushing it imo.

I gave up with my ds3r p35c with 4x1 gb rams...one you got it running you was ok but dont dare turn it off . voltages all over the shop max vdimm was like 2.5 and it was showing 1.9 in bios if your rams are default at 1.8 then you may have a chance but if you need 2.2 vdimm then i dont think it its worth even trying for the hassle it ma,y or may not give you

my ram defaults at 1.87 in bios. which is weird. gues my board is one of those that overvolts. anyway, i really thought this board was not good as it gave so many problems to begin with.. looks like ill be holding back my purchase and invest on a new board instead. cheers

identical findings i had

I don’t think it’s a 4x1gb issue I just think the board voltage pwm regulators are just very poor as every time I reboot I get a different vdimm reading in bios..I can get 4x1gb crucial 1.8 vdimms to start every time just standard sticks..and clock fairly well over 400fsb ..But if I try my ballistix or 10th anny needing 2.2 dim well it’s very very hit and miss its a mare. Im still looking for a board myself..for my go quad but everytime I see what i want it has issues..was going for a p5k premium today but now im reading you cant use raptors in raid 0 lol always something..

Well I'm running the P35 DS3R not the P35C but I think you could be correct... for me 1.8 was actually 1.88, 2.1 was actually 2.11 but 2.2 was usually 2.25 and often would be at 2.28.

4x 1gig PC2-5300 value RAM I had absoultely not problem with... but it was running 333MHz FSB with the RAM 1:1 @ 1.9 volts...
