next offering !

sorry but they are now offering one with an AMD TURION 64 X2 TL-56 PROCESSOR 1.6GHz is this still as good or better than an old p4 3.2 HT?

A turion 1.6Ghz would be considerably slower than a 1.6Ghz C2D. In easy terms, averaged out over different tests, I normally consider a C2D to be worth twice its clock rate in terms of P4 technology. So a 1.6 C2D = 3.2Ghz P4 more or less.

But Turion isnt as good, infact its anything like the Athlon64 desktop chips, its upto 40% slower than a C2D. So based on that it would be struggling to beat a 2.2Ghz P4, let alone a 3.2.

Demand an Intel processor, and say any other brand isnt a comparible replacement for your intel based laptop. C2D is faster, and uses less power.

does this apply even though the Turion is dual core as well ?
