At the moment I have a Zalman Reserator, but with the buzzing and heavy when moving around, im tempted to buy an alternative colling solution with all the advances in the last few years that have been going on.

What I need to know is, is there any cooling solutons for this P4 processor that will make it cool & quiet? Im a novice so I wouldnt be into making my own cooling solution, the more "ready made" the better :D

I'm running thus

XP-120 that i lapped to 2000grit
Aska ultra qutie fan
AS5

Im currently on the net and msn loads of windows open running and everest ultimate edtion 2006 at 38c. Thats a 3.2ghz PRESCOT set to 4GHZ with 1.5250 Vcore as i have vdropp mod and it will overvolt in cpuz it shows as 1.6v. I'm moving to water as soon as my pump arrive so this HSF is up for grabs mate if your intrested.

Any of the following can be silent for a standard clock speed with low fan RPM:

Zalman CNPS 7000B-ALCU
Zalman CNPS 7000B-CU
Zalman CNPS 7700-CU
Zalman CNPS 7700-ALCU

All are rather heavy (especially the CU version as they are pure copper and offer the best thermal disipation).

Zalman CNPS 9500. My current HSF and an amazing piece of kit. Silent & good for temps as it blasts the air out of the back of the case immediately but not cheap @ £38 + Postage.

Thermalright XP90c. You choose your own 92mm silent fan although it can also take a 120mm fan with no mods to it just reposition the fan brackets & use 2 cable ties. Very heavy and depending on your case/motherboard can also offer extra cooling to the mosfets/capacitors around the CPU socket.

Having owned all of these except for the 7700 Zalmans (just an upgraded 7000) I can speak from personal experience about which is best for noise/heat.

The Zalman 9500 is the tops for me as it is lightweight (only 90g over Intels 450g spec for a HSF), can be silent on low rpm & also gives amazing cooling performance for an air HSF.

Thermalright are good but depend heavily on your case layout as they can sometimes obstruct the rear exhaust fans and raise temps.

Any of these will keep a 3.2 @ idle in the mid 40c and under load 55-60c but it is essential your case conforms to Intels thermal spec for temps (basically it has @ least 1 intake fan & 1 exhaust fan which can keep the case temps below 70c. Or several low noise ones which perform the same overall).

Gave my brother my old 3.2 Prescott & the Zalman 7000B-CU keeps that @ 44c for web browsing/office tasks & 58c under heavy gaming.

well you have a large choice mate,

the thermaltake big typhoon is currently the best sold air cooler untill the uk gets hold of the tuniq tower, but its big.

there is the arctic cooling freezer 4, i have one and it does 35 idle 41 load in 25c ambiant room on a p4c 3.2 @ 3.6

i would advise against the zalman 9500, there are lots of them being shipped constructed badly, they also cant handle hot cpu's like p4's optys and x2 very well.

then there are the radial zalmans like the 7000 and 7700, if the 7700 fits that would be an sound investment but the 7000 does but with a higher pitched noise (92mm fan vs 120mm fan) and slightly worse temps, make sure to get full copper versions.
