P4 3.4 Cooling

I currently have a P4 1.8, I am going to upgrade it to

Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4Ghz Socket 775 800mhz 2mb Cache,

Apparently in runs Really HOT and there are so many CPU Fans to choose from, the CPU Cost £50, so I have another £50 or so depending on how good the fan is to get one.

While I am at it I would also like to change the Case Fans, 3 in total, 80mm, they are not really expensive so the price doesn’t matter.

The Fans and cooler really need to be as quiet as possible, my computer is in my bedroom and I leave it on at nights.

Please suggest CPU Cooler and Case fan

P4 1.8Ghz is on old skt478 platform which is not compatible with the new LGA775 socket which the P4 650 is based on.

Therefore you also need a new motherboard and new RAM. If you do it is worth paying more for the newest C2D chips which perform a lot better and make a lot less heat.

About the case fans I can personally recommend the Akasa Amber - truely silent. The artic cooling fans are very quiet also.

For CPU cooler go for Freezer 7 pro / Tuniq Tower / Scythe Ninja.

Thanks I will have a check to see what processors are compatible with the motherboard, and if I cant get that one I will just get the case fans or get another one

I am not sure how many pins my fans currently; I will check later today, however I welcome suggestions (3 or 4 pins); maximum output with minimal noise
