Whats the fastest memory i should get for P4 3Ghz. trying to decide which Mobo/Memory to get

and budget is wide open

You'd be looking for 2x1Gb of PC3200 then, the best three are the GSkill ZX, Corsair C2 or LL, and the OCZ

2Gb is only really used for the latest games, but it does make a nice improvement in BF2, Oblivion, WOW etc

Thats DDR right? Can I not get DDR2 and future proof it abit more?

It depends on the board you choose, if it suppports DDR2 you'll need that, as they're not interchangeable.
