i have an old P4 3.00ghz SK478 running at 3.79ghz and it starting to run a little hot on stock cooler,
i asked a friend what was the best air cooler to upgrade to, and i was told to make an account an post here because your the best guys to ask

Also:

Hi am new to the foruns I am david and just starting to play with over clocking on my PC's and want to distroy my P4 with testing before i over click my main PC.

A quick browse through ocuk shows a scythe mugen2 and a zalman cooler are compatible with 478, couldn't tell you how they perform thoe.

Have you tried cleaning the CPU and stock cooler surfaces and applying some new thermal compound.

The mugen 2 is a great cooler. It maybe overkill (and expensive) for the p4 even if they do run hot. I have seen a 478 cooler for less than a tenner elsewhere. You'll have to pm me though

Hey man.
Ive got an oversized Zalman C something running on mine.
Load temps of 48 degrees c at a 3.36ghz clock (I fail at overclocking XD)

Could I ask what mobo you're using an what setting you used to get that overclock?
