hi, im kinda new to all this modifying computers. I recently brought a 478 P4 3.0Ghz processor for my computer. Put it into my computer powers up but theres no display on the monitor, does anyone have any ideas? thx :)

yes, ive done that, someone said that i may have to alter my BIOS but as i dont know anything about that, i didnt want to tamper with it

Hi Daveo, i think your gonna have to supply a bit more info* for us to help you. I know we are good but were not that good lol :)

*Info= Motherboard/Memory/Previous CPU that worked and any other info you feel may be useful . . .

Drop the FSB to 133(533), it may be set to auto detect. It sounds like a prescott you have and it may not work in your board without a bios update.

I had this problem. I dropped in a Willamette P4 and the board was fine. My prescott is an 800FSB one and the board would not work stably at this speed with a prescott even though it's compatible. Mine didn't display anything when it was on autodetect fsb.
