P4 Prescott / Northwood socket 478

Can someone please put me straight, the P4 Prescott was supposed to of superseded the Northwood with it’s 1mb L2 Cache etc. but unfortunately run very hot so the Northwood was the better option for the 478 socket, or was there a later version of the Prescott which was OK, if anyone can remember I would be please to here from you thanks

Prescott never really fixed its heat issues, even on the 775 socket platforms, although it did get a little better. The 65nm 775 socket processors are the coolest running chips.

I'd stick with northwood if restricted to a 478 platform. (well actually I still run a Northwood 'C' [email protected] as my everyday aircooled rig.

That’s great I made the right decision the other day nearly picked up a Prescott the other day, but something stopped me many thanks again
