Ive had the same cpu (see sig for details) for nearly 3 years, gradually upgrading everything around it as needed, but as time goes on new games run slower so I recently got a new mobo and started overclocking it. While the cpu temp never goes over 40C on 1.632v and the RAM is on 5:4 divider so currently underclocked, it wont go any higher.
Can anyone think of anything I may have missed in the way of magic bios options? (I turned off spread spectrum yesterday, but it didnt help at all) or is this a good overclock for this chip? I should prob mention its a 12cap model, despite everything I find online saying its a 30
I know having 4 sticks of RAM isnt helping, but as this was a gradual upgrade thats the way it is, doing encoding and using vmware at the same time requires this much RAM, so I cant take any out.
I also have an Abit AI7 I could use if anyone thinks I would get better results, but it seems to droop worse than the P4P800-SE and I cant find the droop mod for it, so its relegated to my server
Much as I would like to upgrade the motherboard it will cost too much (Im a final year uni student, should have a nice job within 6months, this rig will last till then)
Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
