Would there be a noticeable performance gain going from a P4 2.8Ghz 400Mhz FSB to a P4 D 2.8 Ghz 800Mhz fsb?
It is the 820 version so has the small cache size.

Thanks

Likely to be used for RAW photo editing.
I was going to buy a Core 2 Duo system which is obviously going to be a lot better than either of the above but have been offered a PC for a reasonable (i think) price which has the P4 d 820 along with 1Gb RAM and debating whether it is worth buying it or saving a lot more for the Core 2 system.

Thing is I could do with a new PC now but do not really want to spend £600 on a Core 2 system but do not want to waste money either by buying a lower spec system that would not give me a decent improvment in performance over my current system.

Thanks all for the comments and feedback.
Some interesting info there, especially the processor scores in that test.

Not made a decision yet but I guess waiting to get a C2D would be the best option and I don't know what the motherboard is like with the 820 so no idea if I could overclock that machine anyway.
