Im planning on buying a E8500 for gaming, which mobo is best to get? im not sure on the differences between the chipsets? im currently using a 4870X2 and 4gb of ddr2 if that influences the decision at all?

If you never plan on a crossfire set up, get a P45.

If you do plan on doing crossfire in the near future get a X48 (or even a X38).

Some claim the P45 is best for OC'ing 45nm Duals but I have seen the X48 doing 600FSB with them.

But I do agree the X48 is better for Quads and running 2x GPU's (although even with 2x8 the P45 is PCI-E 2.0 so has more bandwidth than older PCI-E 1.0/1).

Answer the question first and we'll tell you. :p

Crossfire on P45 is by no means bad, put you'l get the performance worthy of the cost with an X48 board.

P45 then, and save more money aswell by going DDR2. There's very little performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3 at the moment, especially considering the price difference.
