Just putting together the Mrs's new PC, she's got a Presler 915 (dual core 65nm P4).
And I gotta say the stock frikkin cooler is a nightmare, god knows what Intel were thinking when they came up with the 775 push pins clip on method, what was wrong with the cage system on the P4's gah!
It was bad enough on my Conroe using the Freezer7 Pro, but this stock intel cooler is a total arse!
Thought I had it on, started up the rig and BIOS is reading 82C idle...
Turned it off, took it off reseated it, 80+ idle...
Turned it off, took it off, used AS5 instead, 80+ idle...
Turned it off, took it off, just layed it on top of the CPU flat, 38C idle...
If I use the damn push pins the super strength metal braces just lift the HSF up on the other side because all its held on by is some gawddamn plastic push pins... i've tried everything I can think off and it still just pops them out the other side..
So as it stands until I get a damn cooler that fits i'm having to run the system with it layed flat and the cooler just plopped ontop of the CPU..
