I am after a gaming laptop. That has a decent battery life whilst not gaming and is quiet enough for library use. I have settled on the P55w v5, which for the price seems pretty well spec'd with room for upgrades.

So my question is has anyone had any issues with this laptop or has anything else for me to consider? I have looked at the P35w but imagine that gets hot and noisy easily. There are no note bookcheck reviews of the P35w v5 version.

Thanks in advance.

Hi bindibaji,

Keep in Mind with the adjustments we've made with cooling fans/heat pipes, along with the Skylake CPU reduces the heat quite a bit compared to previous generations. Thus reducing fan noise in general. I think you'll be happy with either model and will suite your needs just fine.

On a personal note I use a P35 on a daily basis and only when it is under pretty heavy load do the fans ramp up.

I'm sure some others users can probably post some unbiased feedback. But if you have any questions about anything or we can do anything to help you, please let us know!

Thanks!

R~

I've just got the P57W version.
Just looked and with the power setting on Eco it's saying 7 hours remaining @ 85% battery life. How that would actually turn out if I was using it all day I don't know.

So far, it's been cool and quiet when just browsing the web. Gaming it does get a bit more noisy and you can feel the heat being pushed out the back vents.

One thing, I wouldn't like to spend the day typing on the keyboard. It's a thin laptop and the key travel isn't great. Perfectly fine for games and light work, but not for all day everyday.

Ok thanks for the info Ryu.

Simon - Thanks for the info. The notebook im replacing is awful so I currently use my xps m1330 for typing anything more than a few notes. So your pretty happy with it then?

So far so good. The screen is very good, as is the track pad, sensitive and multi touch works well.

Just been playing World Of tanks for a couple of hours, hi res version with everything turned up and it was still running 80 odd FPS.
Temp on the "Smart Manager" stayed pretty low when I checked.

So yeah, happy with it.

Hi bindibaji,

Have you placed order for P55W? Reason I ask is there is only 1 left in stock at OCUK and not anymore arriving soon:

Just FYI in case you weren't aware of the stock level.

Thanks and thanks Ryu_86 for input onto this thread :-)

Regards,
