Hi all ,again ,groan

Hers my problem -

Hope someone can help here. I flashed to bios 1004 and ever since the bios locks up and i have to hard reset everytime.Eventually i am able to save whatever changes i want to - but this is driving me nuts. I had the same problems with bios 0910, so i thought flashing to 1004 would solve the problem - but no.

Asus say that you can not go back to previous bios versions - but this warning was only put on the site after i had downloaded and installed 1004. The problem seems to happen from hot or cold makes no difference - maybe slightly worse from cold boot. Can anyone tell me if there is anyway to flash back to 804 which was the last stable version?

Someone please help me out i am desperate to sort this out otherwise i may ware out my hardrives by keep having to reset. All help much appreciated.

Anybody else experience something similar?

Download Afudos 207 and the 0804 BIOS

Make a bootable floppy and put Afudos on it.
Copy the BIOS to a separate floppy
Reboot and boot from floppy with the bootable disk
When it's ready, insert the BIOS floppy and type: afudos /ip5bd0804.rom
(If you need to force it, type: afudos /ip4c800b.rom /pbnc)

That should reflash the BIOS to 0804.

Hi Monkeypants,

Thanks for the very quick reply,

I will try it, but am worried that if it goes pearshaped and ruins my board ie not useable then Asus will not replace it under warranty. Have you flashed back to 804 yourself without problems - or has anyone else done this ok?
As Asus do say you can't go back from 1004 which i think is total pants!

It's been done, that guide is from what some guy on XS has had to do, it's worked fine for him and it's the only way to revert.

Asus wil probably replace the board if it goes wrong (which it shouldn't do)
