Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade and wondering if anyone knows the best cpu you can buy for the Asus P5b deluxe (wifi)?

I'm guessing it won't be compatible with anything new, but I'm pretty skint so I'm thinkin about boosting performance a little bit with a cpu (and maybe RAM) rather than the whole lot

The Asus P5B deluxe is a very good motherboard.

With the very latest BIOS you’ll be able to stick a Q6600 with around 4GB of memory without too much trouble.

The board can take up to 8GB of memory, however some have reported it struggles to map it correctly and can make overclocking tricky.

a Q6600 with 4Gb of 2 x 2GB will allow the Q6600 to overclock to around 3 - 3.2ghz depending on the chip you get etc..
