hi wayne thanks, i play mainly flight sims. il2 rise of flight lock on etc so which of the 2 you suggested would handle the games best, do those games take advantage of quad cores. and what about a cooler? thanks oh and would i notice a fair improvement in frames with the upgrade?

I didn't suggest either, I was just answering your question!

If you already have a Intel® Core™2 Duo E6850 don't buy either!

LGA775 is old hat now, if you are really clucking for an upgrade then look for a used processor, don't buy it new as it's old and Intel® are charging too much for this . . .

thanks Wayne, so what would be the best way to go to get the fastest processor now? new mobo and ram and processor and cooler?
is the quad core9650 much faster than my E6850?

And can you suggest a new mobo processor and ram pleas, i have no experience of overclocking.
thanks

lol wayne.
ok then i want to upgrade ,so will you please give me your choice of new mobo ram cpu? that would be a significant speed increase for say around £400
thanks

The P5E is still a good board and personally the performance increase for the price paid to upgrade to i5/i7 is'nt worth it. Try to get hold of a second hand quad such as a Q6600/6700 or even better, one of the 45nm quads (not the Q8000 series though).
