hi all,

i bought a p5e b-grade mobo to go in my girlfriends pc, but having a hard time getting it working with more than 1 stick or ram in.

i can get it to work with 1 stick in the 3rd from cpu-slot, but if i put ram in any other slot it won't post..

i've updated the bios to 1201 (board came with 1102)

any ideas?

system specs are:

q9450
corsair dominator 1066MHz memory (i have 4 dimms)
2x 4870 512mb gpu's
tagan bz-900 psu
2x samsung 500Gb f1 hd's
watercooled cpu and gpu's

many thanks in advance :)

ok,

well i've managed to get it working with 2 sticks of ram; in the 2nd and 3rd slots, but still no dice with the outer 2 slots...

anyone care to give me some ideas on what to do?

NB: it doesn't matter which 2 sticks are in the middle 2 slots, so it appears the ram modules are fine, as they have all passed memtest with each in on their own, or in any combination in the middle 2 slots.

thanks

thanks for the reply.

i've checked the voltage is running at 2.10v using everest, but when i add in any more ram it simply won't post...

i'm hoping the ram slots aren't buggered but i can't see where the problem might be aside from that...

For 4 memory sticks youll also need to increase the north bridge (NB) voltage, 4 dimms place more stress on the memory controller so it requires a boost in voltage to compensate for this.

right-o, i'll give that a tinkering tonight...

i figured that at the very least the board would be able to boot 1st to allow you to go and and set it up appropriately

many thanks for the replies
