Just wondered iff anyone else has encountered a problem with the Asus P5K when installing its chipset driver off the cd. it basically hangs in windows (XP), but on reboot, appears to have correctly installed. Seen it happen on two systems now. Tried installing individually, and as a group install with other drivers (as you have the option of doing)

thanks

You could try this..... Once you have installed windows go into the bios and boot options and change the first boot device back to your primary hard drive instead of boot from disc, you can then do all the drivers and 2 restarts and it shouldn't hang

Asus P5K entire raid implementation is fubared. Just RMA'ed 3 of these boards. Google "SATA P5K problems" or "P5K SATA Disappear".

Drives randomly drop off when the board is set to AHCI or RAID. It was like it in 1/2 boards I bought. I returned the faulty one, got another one that did the same. After researching it on the net, I returned both and am getting the IP35 Pro.

ok thanks, i'll try it like that with my next one.

I dont intend using any raid features of this board, so
hopefully wont get the sort of problems others apparently have.

The same happened to me on a P5B-E board. Everything seems to be installed correctly. I reformatted a few days ago and installed again and it went through fine without hanging. A very dtrange problem. Hope someones got the answer.
