I have just re-installed windows onto a new Sata drive and all is working fine until i connect up my old hard drive to the IDE connector as storage drive.

problem is that the IDE drive keeps getting recognized as 1st boot drive so windows wont load off the Sata drive.

I've looked in Bios to see if i can change anything but cannot figure out what???

Motherboard is Asus P5K

any help would be appreciated.

In BIOS move along the top tabs.

You will see a tab boot options,

Hard drives

All your hard drives will be listed
Select your OS hard drive and page up till that drive is top of the list
F10 and enter

you would have thought so, but no:mad:

if the hard drive is connected to IDE port then it is not detected in bios  and just boots from it overriding the sata drive

Does it make any difference which sata ports your hdd and dvd are plugged into?
I found a post for the P5K Deluxe that suggested that they had to be used in a certain order to be detected.

the sata hard drives are detected in whichever port i put them in.

its my IDE hard drive that is not detected in bios.

Hold on! my dvdrw is also on the IDE port, will see what happens if i disconnect that.

will report back.
