Just tried to update my BIOS so I coul use my E8500.

Downloaded the newest one but when I tried it said it was wrong so I assume you have to do it incremental ?

I downloaded 4 of them, I was on 601 so I tried 603, verified it all, updated, said rebooting in 5seconds. Screen went off and didnt come back on for 30seconds so I turned the PC off and now it doesnt turn on.

Just sits with blank screen. Tried taking the CMOS battery out and booting, taking it out n putting back in and booting, still the same.

Any ideas or is the board dead? :/

Erm did you use the Windows flashing utility or did you do it from within the BIOS?

Within BIOS, never use the windows one

Cant get a new BIOS chip some forums mention. Ive tried the jumper and taking CMOS battery out, still just turns on and fans spin 100% and the monitor doesnt turn on

Odd. Doing it in the BIOS is usually perfectly safe.

You should have been able to go straight from the old BIOS to the latest one without having to flash the ones inbetween. You say that the board told you that it was the wrong one, so are you 100% sure that it was the correct BIOS for the P5K?

Yeah it was correct one, said no, so I went back on the website and 110% downloaded the right one.

It checked it, updated it , said rebooting and wont come back on

Asus charge £16 RMA fee + postage and it takes 21 days :/

I had this problem.
Sometimes ASUS releases updates that contain big changes that the EZflash tool doesn't recognise them or sees them as non applicable to that mobo model.
The version IS correct but you have to make a boot disk and flash using a DOS utility or similar. I'm not sure if these kinds of versions will work when flashing while running windows.

So is there anyway of getting the mobo to boot before I send it back?
It just powers on and lets fan spin but nothing on screen, would a bootable DVD work? Dont have the asus support disc to even try :/
