P5K Boards not SLi

nvidia has not licienced intel to allow sli on the p35 chipset therefore it can not use sli or lawyers and expensive lawsuits will follow.
xfire is supported by p35 though

Indeed, nobody ever said it was an SLi board. ;)

However, some enterprising hackers have gotten SLi to work on non-supported chipsets using modified drivers.

The truth is that if you need SLi you need to get an SLi board.

As said above Crossfire will work, however it has one 16x PCI-E slot and one 4x PCI-E slot so it still doesn't seem ideal. Individually each slot can work at 16x I believe but when using both one drops to either 4x or 1x depending on your settings and that is a limitation of the chipset as far as I am aware. X38 based motherboards might work but again it isn't confirmed so you would probably be looking at hacked drivers still.

My advice is generally to buy the fastest single graphics card you can and then upgrade as and when necessary to the newest single fastest graphics card when the time comes.
