Are you going to RMA it?
How long did you have it for?
Hope the P5K I'm ordering lasts longer![]()
Although, the most annoying thing about the board is that you have to remove the graphics card to reset c-mos. My bros msi neo-fr2?? just has a nice button. Asus never consider useful layouts

When you turn the pc on everything powers on fine, all fans (not at 100%, like with other non posting issues), ram leds show activity, hard drive shows activity.
Tried two graphics cards, in both pci-e slots, all sticks of ram in diff. configs, whilst disconnecting or other devices.

Asus probably aren't your best friends at the moment, but that above is a really good board. Try this Abit instead if you don't want to go back to Asus:

Are you able to enter the BIOS? Is it set to default? Have you tried returning it to default? What volts are you pushing into the Crucial Balistix? Have you tried different RAM? Have you had problems from the beggining of the build or a week or few days after? Have you tried/tested the RAM in another computer? Did you update the BIOS via the BIOS? Was you memory ratio 1:1? What happens if you try to boot from the O/S disc?
Bla bla bla
Just a few random thoughts I'd consider before completely 'failing' the motherboard.

When I had this issue with one of those boards, I eventually fixed it by clearing CMOS, then fitting some old PC6400 RAM. That would boot on default settings, where I could change the RAM settings to something which the 8500 I usually use could run on. Even though in theory 8500 should boot on default BIOS-cleared settings, in practice it doesn't - and for some reason BIOS likes to set the RAM back to default every now and again.
And make sure the RAM seats properly - it's quite hard on those.

Will prob get the asus, I have always gone asus, with no probs until now - Hopefully a one off
lol, long list^^
I had a few issues with the ram (when using 4x1Gb @ 8500 cured with 1.55 through the nb.)
2.20 through Ballistix
I didn't try different ram, however I bought the ram in two stages, and all sticks worked on their own, and in different dimms.
Updated bios through bios (never through o/s - heard too many bad things)
Anyways, everything was fine until I changed the raid contoller "mode" from ide to the acpi???, then restarted and then nothing happens.
Turn on pc, fans spin (normally), memory leds come on show activity, hard drives show activity, but my screen power light just flashes. (tested the screen and all monitor cables on other pcs and they are fine.
I spent a day trying everything![]()
In the end I just though **** this RMA time!
Cheers for all of your replies
If you want acpi I think you need to press f6 when booting up with windows cd to load the correct drivers, otherwise its a no go. It will not work. I've not tried acpi but will when I get everything stable on my new build. (check out my thread in the memory section) I've got the same board and memory as youI'm rmaing the memory to crucial and have ordered some ocz stuff to try. It will arrive wednesday. Results will be posted.
FYI everything was 100% stable for a week on my build and then all hell broke loose.I mean it just went nutsBSODS galore, random restarts, overclock failed messages when nothing was overclocked, things I can't remember and more. Comedy at its best
I was waiting for springs to pop out and flames to errupt. Guess theres still time
Memtest in safe mode though was what told me it was the crucial that was wrong. First stick threw up a fail in the first few mins and the 2nd stick would just start the test and then bsoded three times.
Its been a blast
Good luck fella. Its all gonna to work out![]()
I have tried clearing c-mos countless times
You did read the second half, didn't you? The bit about using slower RAM? I'm happy to admit that BIOS-clearing alone won't do it. Although you may well be right and it might be borked.
