P5K-E Died - Need Replacement

I have tried clearing c-mos countless times!
Did you try to use the ASUS C.P.R feature?

I've had the P5K-E for about three months now and never needed to reset cmos once, its easily the best board I ever used, had the P5B-Deluxe before that which also featured C.P.R and I only had to do a physical CMOS reset in twelve months!

Either it's a one-in-a-million faulty board (unlucky!) or you just got a dose of nOObzilleritus! :D

I did once, but, when neither that or clearing cmos worked I knew something was really dead lol.

The only solution that worked for some peeps was trying slower/different brand ram; however I had neither to hand:mad:

Yeah while the borad lastest was excellent, it deteriated after getting 4Gbs of ram (tested to be fine), kept getting checksum errors etc- Good while it lasted:p

Cheers for the suggestion

If you want acpi I think you need to press f6 when booting up with windows cd to load the correct drivers, otherwise its a no go. It will not work. I've not tried acpi but will when I get everything stable on my new build. (check out my thread in the memory section) I've got the same board and memory as you :D I'm rmaing the memory to crucial and have ordered some ocz stuff to try. It will arrive wednesday. Results will be posted. :)

...The new memory arrived today. Did a reinstall, set bios defaults bla bla.....And its been just perfect ever since :)
Ran memtest in safe mode for a couple of hours, no probs, ran orthos blend for 6 hours not a problem. Just downloading 3D Mark 06.
Goes without saying I've got an rma for the crucial ballistixs :D

Good news well hope you don't get any more problems;)

My motherboard comes tomorrow:D, so will let you know whether my gaming pc breathes again lol; if not then bye bye crucial ram for the foreseeable future. Hello new shiny OCZ:p

That's one great thing about this board never need to reset cmos...does it for you and also saves on the old knees....who needs a flashy reset button lol.:D

Old Wino - I am RMAing the board through the supplier I purchased it from.

My System Lives!!!!!

Turns out that my Tracers were borked as well:mad:

Anyways everything works at last. Only trouble I had with my Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP is that it wouldn't post/boot with my graphics card plugged int to the x16 slot. I solved this by plugging it into the x4 slot first, set up bios for my overclock, then plugged the gpu back into the x16 slot and.......:D working.

Only need to RMA £210 of bookends;)
