Hi all,
Upon installation and setup of my new pc I have been having a high pitched whining sound coming through both microphone and speakers (obviously not as prominent through speakers as it's not amplified as the mic is).
Specs are below:
Antec 900 Gaming Case
Hiper Type R Blue 580w
Asus P5k Mainboard
C2D E6300 (Running at stock atm to eliminate possibilities)
Zalman 9500 AT Cooling Fan
4gb (4x 1gb Kingston DDR800)
320gb Maxtor Sata II Drive
DVD/RW Drive
Nvidia 8800 GTS 320mb (Currently at stock)
Now this problem happened on first build, since I have moved some wires and now it doesnt happen all of the time, now this is the thing I find most weird...
If I have unplugged the computer completely, then plug it back in and turn it on the microphone is fine; no interference whatsoever until I either reboot the machine or it goes in to standby/hibernation (Vista). Upon powering the unit back up then the microphone interference is there. Please note: I have also tried the machine in XP to eliminate OS problems and also tried several different drivers.
Could this be something to do with my power supply? It seems weird as the problem occurs after a hibernation in Vista, no drivers have been changed obviously and the system is in the same state, only thing that has changed is the psu has been off for a while.
Again I stress that once I get the problem I cannot fix it without completely turning the unit off for a while, and turning it back on (if there is power still going in to the psu the problem stays).
Can someone help me with this? Does it seem like a grounding issue? If so, how can I go about solving it?
Great thanks for any input into this
