I've got a standard ASUS P5K and i'm getting a massive vcore vdroop under load when running Prime95.

I have overclocked my q6600 to 3.2GHZ (400 x 8 @ V1.4).

Im having to put the voltage this high as when its under load the voltage drops from 1.360 (cpu-z) to 1.264 (cpu-z). So thats a V0.1 drop under load (sometimes more).

Idle temps are 34C and load temps can rise to 53C over a long period on prime.

What id like to do.....

I have heard of a "pencil mod" for my motherboard that resolves this vdroop issue. If I could do this I could run my overclock at a much lower voltage resulting in lower temps. This would also allow me to try and OC to 3.4GHZ.

My cooler is the thermalright TS-140.

Does anybody know where I am supposed to shade with a pencil to achieve this on my board?

I am flashed to the latest BIOS.

thanks

I have done this mod now...

It has improved my vdroop but not stopped it. Is this whats supposed to happen or shal i go ahead and shade some more pencil onto it?

My voltages now read,v1.425(BIOS) V1.376(cpu-z)Idle - V1.312(cpu-z) on load.
