I have an issue with my Asus p5k system, everytime I reboot from windows the PC will hang on boot, no post, no beeps, I can only hear the fans, no drive activity. Hitting the reset button does the same.

Once it gets to that state the only way to recover is to power off the PSU (using its switch in the back) killing all power to the mobo for about a minute, then try power on again. Just powering off the PC does not fix it. Have to kill the power from PSU.

Cold boots have no issues. It's only on reboots and resets. Anyone know what could be going on?

After a lot of searching online it appears its a really common problem for the p5k with no real solution. Might get a new mb...

yeh got the latest, didn't solve the issue. apparently it may have something to do with the mb compatability with my ocz ram.

make sure it's got the right voltage..

my ocz needs 2.2 (mobo is 1.8) so have to set it to 2.2 (or +0.4) for ram, perfectly safe

Is the system running stock speeds or is it overclocked?

What OCZ Memory are you using?

Its at stock speeds. I'm using OCZ 8GB (4x2GB) 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition.

Its running at 2.1v, manufacturer recommended voltage.

Mine (not from here)did the same until recently when it did the 'hang' BUT whereas in the past I was able to get round the problem with a turn off at the plug , wait for a minute and try again , nothing would get it to move past the hang stage.
RMA - recieved a new board but no explanation.
This has somewhat destroyed the faith I had in the board :(
