P5N-E addional cooling for overclocking

I have ordered the board below for a friend

The board will be used to get a nice overclock out of a e4300 and will be place in a super lanboy case (with 8800gts = toasty :confused: )

So my question is do you think the below will be benifical for stability?

Northbrige cooler to go onto the bare south bridge? (will it fit)

Lil VGA heatsink for the VRM's I read in custom pc they get really hot

I dont know about VRM. I think people just said good air flow is good for them.
That NB HS is worse then the one on the MB allready. Active cooling is needed as much as possible

No I was wondering if that Zalman NB cooler would fit on the 'naked' chipset? I was not planning on replacing the current beastly NB cooler ;)

So maybe adding a system exhaust and/or 120mm fan into the side window?
 
Opinion is divided on wether it needs it or not but cant do any harm to try, other boards have it heatsinked.

Probably will fit, it has holes for those clips. I cant easily measure mine but it looks about right

I'd go with the sidefan, Ive not been impressed with exhaust designs in the past


The NB heatsink is big but could use a fan. I have a 80mm but it doesnt exactly fit, heatpipe something wouldnt be overkill

The Zalman n/b heatsink does fit onto the s/b chip but the side of it was very close to my 8800GTS. To be honest I ended up taking it off as it made no difference to the temps as the contact between the chip and heatsink was very poor. You would be better off increasing the airflow of the bare chip.

I didn't know the 8800GTX fitted into a Lanboy! That's bound to be tight - it's a great case though. You don't need a southbridge cooler in my experience and it would block SLi port 2. The Mosfets don't really care about temperature. They are solid state and will run for years long after the lettering has burned off them :cool:

That area of the board is marked out for a heatsink (Heatsink 2) but the board is made in such a way that the heat from the Mosfets is actually drawn along tracks in the motherboard (look at the little rows of solder underneath the Mosfet heat spreader (the silver bit) when you get the motherboard)

Judging from the responses increasing airflow is the way to go :cool:

oooppps. My bad yeah its a GTS which was the same size as the previous card 7900GTO (I blame it the fact I was tired :D ).

Yeah lanboy is kewl if it was my case I would have probably modded the drive bays to fit in my GTX (lanboy aluminum should be easily to work with) ;)

Sounds like the mobo should not cause any problems, thats good to hear

Will do until i find a fully compatable Chipset cooler for my water loop.
Does the ftick nicely.
2 x 92mm ambers at 7V, dropped the chipset temps from-

Dam thats a lot of fanage. I have two 80mm in the same place exhausting. wrapped in elastic bands and selotaped to the case :D. elastic bands wear out but if you can get a stretchy hair clip or something they might use climbing, that stuff lasts much better. Using some of that to suspend an osillating hdd
 
Running Orthos overnight and the pc had rebooted after between 5 and 8 hours (was in bed during that time).
E6300 at 3.3, i think i need more Volts to the chipset as ive got it set on auto at the mo.
Temps never went over 40C
