p5n-t or evga 780i

evga 780i all the way.

Awesome after purchase support, long warranty, frequent bios updates and it uses the tried and tested reference design which seems to work very well.

So far (can only go by results or lack of them) the MSI 780 seems sweet, even retains the ESATA, the other Vendors dropped in favour of more cooling.

I made a thread here, they hit 580+FSB (2320+) with Duals, something my Striker E could not dream off.

Ive read all the EVGA threads on their forums and nobody seems to be trying for a Max FSB, its all nearly Quads at 1600-1800FSB.

Damn you got me excited there, but 450FSB is nothing great, I was hoping they had the Dual cores to try them.

Many peeps run 450 (1800) with Quads on the crappy 680's inc the Asus Striker Extreme.

I took this little piece from the review for you :-

Usually you guys end at 3 GHz 3.2 GHz on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 quad-core right ? Now we are going to try and break that 3.2 GHz limit with the help of an air cooler, the stock Intel cooler you receive with your Intel processor. Here's what I did .. I put the FSB to 1600 MHz, the multiplier to 9 and furthermore did noting, no voltage increase noting. Everything was set yo automatic in the BIOS except the variables mentioned above. Et voila .. a stable 3600 MHz on all four cores on STOCK cooling.

Granted temps where a little high at 55 C idle up to 73 degrees C 100% utilized .. but I'm merely stating nothing more than this .. overclocking is peanuts on this mainboard. Imaging what you can do with some better cooling.

Now I like the sound of that dont you ? :)

Nope does nothing for me and I can read it myself ;).

I can run 1900FSB right now on a my E6850, I cant comment on Quads but see others running them at 1800FSB on same Striker Extremes (not all, depends on Mobo).

1600FSB takes no changes to any bios settings for me.

I prefer that 580+FSB (2320+) of the MSI 780i.

I need know soon as I have the Striker II on order but it may be the last Asus and Nvidia ever if its as crap as my current Mobo.

You should visit XS as they know more than that above site, they mstly run 3.6GHZ on their Q6600's.

I would like to see when their WolfdaleDual arrives, and not using 8GB of Memory that alone must hinder OC.
