Hi guys I would just like to know, what are the main points I should look for when overclocking this type of board and CPU? Would be great if someone could give me a little advice.

Thanks:o

Hi, its the Noctua NH-U12P, I would love to get 4ghz, but a little worried about the temp, tried it before it hit 74C, the thing is im new to the overclocking scene, just would like to know what you guys think?:o

74c is fine during stress testing. Tell us your current bios settings by filling in the below template:

sorted the thread title out

i dont think i can add anything that gurusan cant tell you
if theres anyone on the forums that knows wolfdales - its him!!!

you are in capable hands :D

There used to be a big thread on the P5Q boards in the motherboad section. But I cant find it now. There was some great help from Big Wayne and clocking.

Hi there, Ive just ran Prime95 for 2+ hours, with my cpu @ 4050MHz and reached temps of 58 to 60 c full load, so fingers crossed I should be ok

What do you think gurusan

And a big thankyou;)

Well done :) You're very welcome. Temps sounds great so I would keep pushing.

Just keep raising the FSB, but there are a few things dependent on FSB speed. 1.28V should get you 480+fsb but you are running 8gb which puts a little more strain on the memory controller...so you might need to nudge that up a bit. Shouldnt need more than 1.3ish for nearly 500FSB though.

Performance Level 8 should also be fine up to about 480, after that you made need to loosen it to 9 (lower is faster, higher is more stable and will always increase with fsb)

Actually, your memory divider will also probably need to be dropped to 1:1 and on the P5Q that means that you will need to set performance level to 10 for this to work at all.

And of course you might need more CPU vcore :)
