Hi, just installed windows 7 pro 64bit all worked fine, until i ran windows update now it says i don't have an ethernet cable connected.

i did the suggestion on an old thread of "open network (taskbar) -> change adapter settings (on the left) -> properties on adapter you want -> configure -> power management -> untick all boxs -> restart"

after 2 reboots this worked, rebooted again (to see if the change stuck) and now it telling me i dont have an ethernet cabl plugged it (this has been working fine on me windows xp build).

Checked the settings again and they look fine?

Any ideas?

Seems to work every 3 restarts. Very annoying

Have you tried the latest driver from Asus' site. I'd rarely trust drivers that Windows decides upon for audio, video, chipset or indeed LAN tbh

Hey funguST,

had the same **** happen to me, LAN worked perfect using the ASUS drivers but after letting Windows 7 update the driver to an MS version bye bye network . . . not sure how best to restore but I just re-installed Windows 7, installed ASUS network drivers and all was well . . . .

Thats what i thought i might have to do, cant find the update that screwed up the network, how have you gone about running the windows updates?

Just out of interest did you download new drivers from the asus site or use the dvd that comes with the board in compatability mode?

I used the LAN drivers from the ASUS site for Windows 7 64-bit . . . I don't think the MS-Update automatically installs the LAN driver if you already have the ASUS ones installed . . . IIRC you have to "manually" select the borked MS driver?

Long story short, don't ever install a LAN driver using MS update if using an ASUS motherboard! :p

I just let it install all the critical updates (36 of them). Will give it another crack shortly. On a plus tho, it doesnt boot very quickly now lol, 60gig solid state (c300) and my Q6600.

Thanks for the replies.
