Hi all I just installed my new gear which is

Asus P5Q-E
Q6700
Seagate 7200.12 1TB

With my old stuff:

4gb OCZ Titanium PC6400
BFG GTX280 OC
Corsair HX620

Now what happens is when I turn the pc on all the cathodes come on and fans and the HD's spin, but the graphics card fan does not (even though it's green LED is ON).
So no beeping from the mobo, no image to the screen.

What should I do next? I have already reset the CMOS via the jumper in the bottom-right once, this did not remedy the problem. Should I remove the GPU next and see if the mobo does an error beep?

The mobo is 2nd hand from an auction site.

Thanks

yeh first thing I checked was power to the GPU, they're all In and GPU worked in old build in sig.

I don't have an old PCI-E graphics card:(

8 pin power cable is on the mobo dekez, lets see what compressed air can do on the pci-E slot...

air duster didn't work:(

If the CPU was defective would the mobo be able to POST?

It was OEM from here, but it really looked like a HSF had left its mark on the heatspreader already...three sides of a square imprint on the nickel...

Hi guys thanks for the ideas i'll try them out today.

I have my trusty E6300 I can try him in, thanks tho IAMATeaf, i'm in westlondon

I'm not sure this mobo has a speaker? I took the GPU out and powered up but heard no beeping, and my case has no speaker either.

Ok i've taken out cmos battery and put it back
Put my e6300 in
Moved GPU to a different PCI-E slot
Taken a stick of ram out

Still nothing, GPU fan won't spin and no signal to monitor

Bent pin on C2D? They don't have pins...

I think the CPU's are fine, something is up with the mobo

Big Wayne yeh no joy with the E6300.
I just checked the pins under a magnifying glass (early learning center one, innit) and they look fine, i'm assuming a bent/damaged one would be obvious but they look very orderly.

All other kit was working 48hrs ago when I was backing stuff up, GPU, Ram etc

I am about to contact the seller, I don't have much hope for bare bones, think its worth a shot?
How do I turn the system on/off on the bench cos it will no longer be hooked up to the case switches...

I am doing a bare-bones atm, just Mobo, Cpu and GPU but the mobo switch won't work! It doesn't want to turn the mobo on! even though its glowing...

OK, i've put geil in, same thing, no GPU fan spinning, no signal output

Just installed a speaker onto the mobo, it doesn't beep at all!

Ok I put my old mobo into the case to check the GPU was still OK and it is. Image on screen, POST, into BIOS etc etc

So this rules out my GPU as having spontaneously died between upgrading!

@sid yeh all the cables are plugged in

I haven't put my quad into the old mobo, but seeing as I also tried the E6300 in the P5Q-E to no avail it rules out the new Q6700 being faulty. Plus I bought the new board for the quad as the P5NE-SLI is not so hot with them.

As for warranty I am still conversing with the seller, I am unsure as to any warranty it may or may not have with Asus...

Ordered and installed a new P5Q-E off ocuk, PC is up and running, fffing YAY!
So this ebay guy has screwed me over:(
Never again...
Now to clock this baby up

Not used a nice mobo since the P4 days, (P4C800-E) it IS nice to have a better board than the P5NE now:)

I bought the ebay board at 2am, I got all excited and bought on impulse, not like me...
It's weird that the board looks really normal yet doesn't work, maybe I should list it..
