P5Q Premium MoBo - U3S6

I have an Asus P5Q Premium Motherboard and would like to add an Asus U3S6 PCI E card which is a sata 3 & usb 3 card the official notice dose not mention that they are compatible but neither says they are not just want to know if any body has paired these two together ok

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Looking at the compatibility list it appears that only boards after socket 775 will work with it.

I wouldn't get down about it though. It uses the abysmal Marvell 9128 controller and it is truly rubbish. I had the same controller on my old Asus P55 motherboard to give it Sata 3 speeds. What a load of rubbish. It was slower than the Intel Sata 2 controller. Don't waste your money.

Many thanks Mate I wont go down that avenue then what card would you recommend for Sata 3 as I want to connect a Sata 3 SSD to it my board has pcie connectors

I would just stick to the sata2 on that board.
I used an asm1061 based card when i had a P5Q seq reads were around 400 but the sata2 still felt faster.
Also not sure but i think the gfx slot drops to x8 with a x4 sata3 card.

Most of the cards under £100 use the Marvell controllers so i would just forget about it or upgrade to a new mobo and cpu.
