Is it true that the P5Q Pro is only compatible with cards which are PCI-E 2.0?

I'm running mine (trying to run) with a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 which isn't PCI-E 2.0 and find it impossible to install XP SP2 without BSODs, reboots etc.

Tried new memory from the QVL and that didn't help BUT just read that the above may be the problem - anyone agree?

Might save me an RMA on the motherboard!

(And cost me a new graphics card.....)

you would have thought so..... I'm just at my wit's end and worried that they'll test the RMA and send it back saying it's ok

I read about this PCI-E 2.0 business and hope sprang eternal!

I was pretty sure it is backwards compatable.

I would go into the BIOS and disable as much hardware as possible, sound card, network adaptor etc in the hope its one of them playing up. you could try flashing the BIOS if a new one is out.

Done all that.... flashed the bios to 1406 (latest) as well..... all I have running and switched on is 1xHDD, 1xCDROM, 1xGPU and RAM - tried 2 different sets of RAM too (second lot QVL assurred)
