I am about to buy a P5W dh and having read countless reviews i am stuck on deciding between it and the P5B deluxe.

I love the features of the P5W, (USB charging while off, remote control, etc etc) ...but having read reviews that it comes with BIOS not ready for the conroe and that it cold boots after BIOS alterations... i am being put off.

Does anyone know if they are shipping consistently with new BIOS or, if not, does anyone know of a way to flash the bios without a recognised CPU in the MOBO, as i do not have an older CPU that will fit this MOBO.

Also i would like to check that the artic cooling freezer 7 pro will fit this motherboard without conflicting with the motherboards own on board fan as i have read reviews that certain CPU fans can get in the way

Any help or suggestions regarding my choice would be greatly appreciated.

(remaining Spec:
e6600 conroe
geil 2gb ultra pc2-6400
HIS iceQ x1900xt 256MB
antec 550W TruePower)

this board should ship with atleast the latest bios which was september or the one out in august which mine came with. The curent set of asus p5w dh deluxe mobo's will run a c2d cpu out if the box so dont worry :D

dont worry about the fan as there isnt one :D well not on mine like, there's loads of reviews on this board but not sure if any have anything about fans. The retail intel fan is massive so I cant forsee any probs with arctic cooler but I will probably be proven wrong.

Thanks for the help, i'll go with the p5w dh for now and hope for the best! Cheers

Unless you need crossfire or RAID I'd go for the PB5 Deluxe if you must have an Asus board. At least the horrible power cycling issue appears to have been fixed & it doesn't have the feared Jmicron controller. A Bad Axe is probably the most trouble free 975 based board overall though.

Ive got a P5W DH and a Freezer 7 Pro and I love it.

I have overclocked at stock voltages my 6600 to 3.2Ghz without problems and at stock with EIST enabled and 4 case fans all running silent im at 22C, neally 50C when running othos back at 2.4Ghz.

Dont know why so many people have problems with this board but until the problems stop im not upgrading from the 0701 bios it came with.

You may find it handy updateing to the latest 1407 BIOS which you can find on Asus's website. It adds support for the future quad core Conroes and the feature to lower the CPU mulitplier just like the P5B Deluxe has.

Well until i either get a quad core or they bring out a bios with no problems im sticking with the one the board came with its been flawless for me.

I wonder if some of these later bios are causing all the problems i see on the forums.
