Hi, i am using a P5W DH Deluxe for my E6600 conroe system, with the Freezer 7 pro as my PCU Cooler. I would just like to check whether i am supposed to install the optional motherboard fan that comes with the P5W or not?

The instructions aren't making it clear to me, thanks in advance for responses.

Ok thanks, I'll see how the air flow gets disrupted with it in...

Its just the way it says "only install if you are water cooling or passive cooling". The freezer 7 has its own fan so surely its not passive?

The main problem is that cooler doesn't direct any flow down towards the socket so the passive sink on the chipset/power circuits won't get much direct flow.

if you have a decent air flow through your case, you can try running without the additional fan. If the temperatures get too high (55+) on the motherboard, you can install the fan then.

I am changed the nb cooler with a passive zalman cooler and all the air movement over it is from the 120mm@5v rear intake.

Also note that there isn't actually a temp probe on the NB, so you'll need to use your own to find out how hot it's getting.

I've got the same board and i've not put the fan on it yet!

I was playing football manager and my cpu you was only at 29 but my motherboard was at 45-46 and the Asus probe software that comes with board had gone red.

So i'm not sure if i should add the fan on now as well.

Hi, Asus quite clearly state, and it is with your packaging, that this fan should only be used with fanless HSF's, ie passive cooling such as water. It is normal for the motherboard to run between 40-60c, asus again state this....
