Hi guys, any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!
OK heres the story.
Just bought:
Pentium D 805
ASUS P5WD2-E
2 gig patriot pc-7200
connect 3d X1900 XT-X
Tagan TG580-U15
and 2g0 gb hdd (just for completeness sake)
So, put it all in ok, and it posted fine, but found out i couldnt install windows without SP2. So while i set my pther pc to create the updated XP slipstream disk, i thought i would test out eh CPU a bit. cant blam me right?
so, set mem. to correct timings, put voltage to the rated 2.3 volts and started upping the FSB.
190 - sweet, got 3.8 and still posting.
so i thought i would try out at 4.0ghz - 200 fsb.
set the ram at 800.
restarted and all seemed fine. oh, but i forgot to increase the voltage to the cpu. :S
ok no problem, the sytem hung at POST.
tried resetting, and nothing happened, no bios beeps, nada.
tried a few more times, but still nothing.
tried clearing CMOS.
tried each ram stick individually.
So basically, im stuck with a board with no beep codes at all, wont post, after several CMOS resets.
Is it the mobo?
or CPU? - bear in ind I did not increase the voltage to it at all.
At this point i must add, that before i tried overclocking, the bios screen would blank out occasionally ( i.e. the screen would go black, then come back on again) and would quiver as well (horizontal movement).
GFX card? i doubt it.
Im thinking its the mobo, maybe a corrupt bios. I have no other components to test this theory out with tho.
anyone had similiar problems with this equipment?
it cant be an out of date bios, as it posted first time.
thanks guys. anything appreciated.
