After looking each of these chipsets up ive noticed for what i want out of my gaming build i dont need the z68 features.

i wont be using the onboard graphics, i wont be using crossfire or sli. i want to be able to overclock my cpu.

I would also like to overclock the gpu i buy but on wikapedia it says the p67 only allows overclocking for cpu and ram. yet another article says it allows overclocking(not exactly specific on what it allows overclocking for).

i will be buying a new mobo for ivy bridge in a year.

If the p67 allows overclocking of ram,cpu and gpu without being able to use the onboard graphics as the only con. i dont know why i should go for the z68.

enlighten me ;)

yeh they will but im planning on getting a better mobo in the future whilst now i was onyl considering a £80 one. im going through the technologies z68 offers atm. the most appealing one so far is the smart response x4 improved performance for hdd only pc rigs. the rest of the technolgies are pretty useless for me.

ok so the smart respone and usb booster are the only technologies that make the z68 better than the p67. although it has hdmi but wouldnt me having my own gpu make that useless?

does the hdmi technology mean i can only use my hdmi cable with the z68 card. or can i still use a hdmi cable with my 6950 with the p67.

i really shouldnt ask so many questions because i usually find out the answers before someone posts lol.

so yes i can us hdmi cable with a discrete gpu with the p67. i wont be using a ssd so smart response is un-needed. i can overclock ram,cpu and my discrete gpu.

so yeh im going for a p67 i prefer their look too.

go for z68,they support onboard graphics built into the cpu,oc just as good as p67,will support ivy bridge chips with bios update

u can use lucid virtue on z68 where you use built in graphics for web browsing ect and graphic card for gaming it switches between the two

you need a gen3 board for pci-e3 all z68 boards should support ivy bridge cpus though

why switch to onboard graphics when i cud just continue using the discrete grahpics card for all my tasks...seems so pointless , its not like im going to wear the gpu down fast enough. and i plan on getting a gen 3 around the time ivy bridge comes out so for now a cheap p67/z68 will do. and there are many other sites other than oc lol.. which in my eeys are quite bad pricing. but ive heard oc have great customer service so i guess thats what your paying for.

The idea with using the onboard GPU is when the system is idle, ie web surfing ect you can save energy, when you want to game or do anything the main GPU wil come into play.

Some of the MSI boards are good but they are out of stock at the moment.
