which mobo chipset is best for conroe?

I know the p695 has the newer mem controller, but since the mobo's are still not mature, the benchmarks show that the older 975 is still best?

You mean P965 of course? this will prove to be the better chipset I reckon. The gigabyte ds3 has this and its quicker than the asus p5w.

I actually have a ds4 as well as the p5w, but the p5w has far better features.

I haven't seen any benchmarks for the p695 yet though.

If you have a look on the forums Kitt from XS benched the PW5 against the DS3 and the DS3 came out on top

thanks for that! Doesn't seem to be that much in it though?

And the ds3 and ds4 seem very over-priced! Well so does the pw5, but it has way more features!

Over priced? You can pick up the DS3 for ~£95. Unless you need crossfire I'd go for a 965 based board.

The DS3 (965 chipset) looks mighty impressive for the price. If your short on cash like me, this is the one.
