Right im placing an order this week but im a bit stuck re which motherboard to order from the 2 stated above.

Im edging to the p6t deluxe for a few reasons

1) better phase power delivery
2) better spacing/cooling for xfire graphics cards (which I will be doing)
3) sounds silly i know but a slightly better colour scheme (will be slapped ina 800D)

So what im askng essentially is can anyone argue the difference between them (aside from whats listed on the asus website) and validate the extra £30 on the deluxe version

As for spacing, I find the lower 2 pci-e slot on Deluxe too close, and if you read the comparison chart from Asus website, you'll find the JMicron chip is missing from Deluxe IIRC

The stock P6T is plenty - but the Gigabyte UD3R is on promotion at the moment and at £130 it'll do everything a P6T will for £45 less. That buys a lot of better RAM or pays for a decent cooler maybe?

"Curiously, despite the similarity of their name they are very different boards.
1. The PWM (power section) is different. P6T is 8+ phase, and P6T Deluxe is 16+ phase. This should be a big plus for the Deluxe, but most of the reviews I've read don't indicate that the P6T vanilla is noticeably less stable.
2. The P6t is SLI and Crossfire capable and the "Deluxe" is only Crossfire. An important part of this is also how the PCIe x16 slots are placed on the board. With the P6T they are situated so that one can really use 3-Dual Slot cards. Where the Deluxe seems to be designed for use with just 2-Dual Slot cards, or 3 Single Slot cards.
3. The Deluxe has one x4 PCIe slot, placed above the top PCIe x16 slot. The P6T has one x1 PCIe slot, placed below the top PCIe x16 slot.
4. The onboard NIC works through a different chips. The P6T uses a Realtek 8111C, and the Deluxe uses a pair of Marvell 88E8056 chips.
5. The onboard Audio also works through different chips. The P6T uses a Realtek ALC1200 and the Deluxe uses an ADI2000B. (Note: while the ADI chip might be better, ADI has decided to withdraw from this market, so future driver support might not materialize)
6. The Deluxe has 2 more USB ports on the backplane. And the P6T vanilla has 2 extra SATA ports (though they are used by discreet JMicron chip to give this board an "easy" RAID setup).
7. The placement of the one PATA connector is swapped around in relation to the SATA ports. The P6T has this connector on the bottom, and the Deluxe has it on top.
8. I've heard from reviews that the P6T will only support a maximum of 12GB of memory, while the Deluxe supports 24GB.
9. The heatsink configuration is slightly different. With the Deluxe they are all interconnected by a heatpipe. With the P6T only 2 of the 4 are connected."

PakJai some useful info there as Im trying to decide on another X58 board.

Was gonna go for the deluxe but appears the P6T would be better for install of cards in xfire. Have an RIIE, good solid board but xfire spacing a bit tight on the PCI-E slots apparently?

according to asus website the p6t handles 24gb mem.

Why im considering the p6tdeluxe is mainly becaus eof the hefty power delivery and the fact that while the p6t deluxe spacing for crossfire is a bit haywire, I would only even intend to run 2 card not 3 so having 2 cards that are fairly spread out on the p6t deluxe would offer better airflow than 2 that are close on the p6t.

Eg the pic below has corssfire setup and theres a nice ventilation gap between cards on the p6t deluxe

Both the p6t and the p6td deluxe support cross fire and sli, the p6t se is the crossfire only board from the asus range.

if you have got the money get the deluxe but if your spending that sort of money why not look at the evga board when overclockers get them back into stock of look at the dfi boards much better overclockers

Go for the P6TD Deluxe, check out the Custom PC review for why. The P6TD is one of the best boards for overclocking i7 CPU's.

I haven't believed Custom PC reviews since they said the Akasa Mirage had an aluminium front. When it transpired that it had a plastic front they effectively admitted they'd tested it off a spec. sheet, the guy who wrote the review never saw the case and the photographs were taken by a freelance offsite.

PT6 got my vote; still I bought my board when prices were a lot differen. Can you actually see/use the bottom connections and power button if a 5890 is in the bottom slot?
