Hi guys some what stupidly:rolleyes::rolleyes: I put the FW header into the USB and vice verse. i used the USB external connection and blew my printer and keyboard:mad::mad:
After checking I realised my mistake and changed the headers over. The USB works fine on all connections. The FW does not work on the header or the back panel. Have I borked the mobo or is this a Win 7 issue?

Unfortunately sounds like hardware, not software.:(

Does the Firewire device show up as working in Control Panel?

If you remove the driver will it successfully re-install?

The device shows on device manager and shows as being installed ok.

If I delete the device and scan for hardware, it sees it and reinstalls the device.

If the backpanel (by that I take it you mean the socket soldered directly to the motherboard) doesn't work but the driver is installed and happy then unfortunately I think it is a mobo hardware issue :(

If the rest of the mobo still works fine and you need Firewire then you could investigate adding a Firewire PCI card (see: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=49&subid=422). They start at GBP16.09.

Yes by back panel I meant the connections directly on the MOBO at the rear of the case.
