Hi,
I'm a relative noob to I7 boards but i just completed my first I7 build yesterday and got everything stable and working. Then I figured it would be worthwhile having the latest BIOS so used ASUS Update tool in windows to change from 0703 to 0813... all completed fine...
However when i rebooted it would not find my boot disk
The disks are 4x500gb with boot being 500gb RAID10 on the rest RAID0 on the onboard intel RAID controller.
Checking the BIOS it appeared to have defaulted back to JBOD/IDE config. No problem, I reset it RAID and then selected the appropriate PARTITION/BOOT DEVICE (called RAID10) and saved and rebooted.... however it refused to boot from this device... I went into EZFlash2 from the boot menus to try and put my old BIOS back (because strangely enough I could still browse the files on my C:drive no worries). However when I try and load it back it barfs near the end saying it can't load it...
So I''m in a bit of a quandry.... The raid controller says everything is fine and all my raid config is still there bit for whatever reason i cant seem to boot from it anymore....
OS is windows 7 64bit...
Has the flash done something to the boot on the box? If so is there any way to recover? Or am i facing a complete re-install
update - it appears my 'reserved' boot area is on the other RAID disk RAID0 - if i hit F8 i can boot ok from it although I cannot select in the BIOS as a boot device - oh well. At least I can ghost the install, and then blat the whole thing over... and start again. Wont take so long with an image - plus the boot shouldnt be on a striped disk really, so i'll make something on the raid 10 set to accomodate it
Phew!
thanks
